Afua Asantewaa Breaks Silence On Her Failed Sing-a-thon Record By An Individual
Afua Asantewaa, the CEO of Ghana Outstanding Women Awards Africa (GOWA), didn’t succeed in her attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon.
The Guinness World Record announced her disqualification publicly when a dedicated fan inquired about the outcome of her attempt.
In a surprising twist, Afua Asantewaa received her results in early February and even got a refund for expediting them. But she chose to keep it from the public.
After facing such disappointment, Ghanaians have been criticizing her for being dishonest, especially considering the immense support she received for her sing-a-thon.
In response to the situation, Afua Asantewaa revealed that she received the results just as she was preparing to host a significant event with the President of Ghana, Akufo-Addo in attendance.
She posted on social media, saying, “Just as I was getting ready to host a Gala dinner and the launch of the Lebanese Scholarship Alumni Network, attended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, I received the news about the outcome of my Sing-a-thon attempt. I will share my next steps in a few days. Thank you all for your love and support. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Success tastes even sweeter when snatched from the jaws of defeat.”
