Anti-LGBT+: We Will Not Entertain Any Delay In Approval Of The Bill- Minority

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has made it clear that they will not tolerate any additional delays in approving the bill on Promoting Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values, also known as the anti-gay bill. They are determined to move forward with it without any further interruptions.

Following Deputy Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s recent motion to request a second review of the bill, concerns have arisen. Afenyo-Markin’s suggested amendment, which aimed to replace imprisonment with community service, has sparked conversations among the members of the House.

With the bill approaching its third reading and potential passage, the House was compelled to continue making amendments to approximately thirteen clauses on Wednesday, February 21.
The Minority Chief Whip, Kwame Governs Agbodza, stressed the urgency of completing consultations on Afenyo-Markin’s proposed amendments before today,Wednesday.

Kwame Agboza emphasized that the Minority will not tolerate any actions that are seen as delaying the process beyond the specified date. He made it clear that they will not constantly find excuses to postpone the progress of the bill. They have given ample time for consultation, but there will be no more stalling after Wednesday.

The Minority Caucus is all about expediting the legislative process and making sure the bill is considered without any unnecessary delays. They’re determined to get things moving and address the debates and controversies surrounding the bill on Promoting Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values and it has sparked significant controversies and debate in the country now.
