Coach Chris Hughton Addresses The Press After Their Second Game

Chris Hughton, the head coach of the Black Stars, has shared his thoughts on the condition of the team’s locker room following their unsuccessful start to the 2023 AFCON campaign, where they haven’t secured a victory in two games.

After the game against Egypt in Group B, the coach addressed the press, expressing his disappointment as his team twice lost their lead and ended up with a 2-2 draw.

The Pharaohs got both goals in the very competitive game by capitalizing on defensive errors from the Black Stars in the 69th and 74th minutes respectively.

The draw with Egypt can be attributed to a few key factors. Firstly, the Black Stars had difficulty maintaining their lead, allowing Egypt to equalize twice. This may have been due to defensive lapses or a lack of concentration.
Additionally, Egypt’s strong performance and tactical adjustments posed challenges for the Black Stars.

“The team is facing several challenges, including difficulties in finding their rhythm and securing victories in the tournament. They are working hard to overcome these obstacles and improve their performance and make necessary improvements to secure victories in future matches” he said.
