Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye To Launch Book On Ghana’s Fight Against Covid- 19

Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, the incoming Minister of Health and outgoing Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Scheme, has dropped a hint about publishing a book that focuses on Ghana’s efforts in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Being part of the COVID-19 task force, I vividly recall the crucial role played by the army. I have distinct memories of those dark nights when we had to airlift logistics to the north. I even remember going to the Air Force base and flying with your amazing men to distribute the items. They were true heroes, risking their lives on the frontlines, fighting the virus and because I was involved in the battle, by the grace of God, I faced some challenging tasks to document our country’s experiences during the two to three years that the virus was present. Finally, the book is now complete.
He disclosed this during a visit to the new Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Oppong-Peprah.

He also restated the National Health Insurance Authority’s dedication to providing support to all military health facilities.

Lt. Gen. Thomas Oppong-Peprah, the Chief of Defence Staff, also showed gratitude for the ongoing partnership between the military and the NHIA. He emphasized the significance of being ready for future pandemics and emphasized the necessity of establishing a biomedical unit.

“It’s crucial for us to establish a biomedical unit to promptly address outbreaks and ensure we’re well-prepared. We’re gradually working on this, and in the future, we may reach out to your office for advice, guidance, and collaboration. It’s exciting to see these efforts taking shape”. He said.

He added” It’s crucial for us to enhance our disaster management capabilities within the Armed Forces. That’s why I’m fully committed to pursuing the establishment of a specialized biomedical unit specifically for pandemics. As the Chief of Defence Staff, I believe it’s a necessary step to ensure preparedness and effective response.
