Fracht FWO Polska, a logistics provider from Poland, just announced the start of a project to deliver a railway set made by PESA Bydgoszcz for the Ghana Railway Company Limited.
This announcement is a major leap forward in boosting Ghana’s rail infrastructure. It’s especially exciting because it introduces environmentally friendly trains, which is a first for the entire African continent.
The train, which was specifically built in Poland for Ghana’s railway transportation, was officially handed over to the Ghanaian government during a ceremony held in Poland earlier this month. It’s fantastic to witness these positive developments taking place.
This train is set to cater for passengers traveling on the recently built Tema-Mpakadan standard-gauge railway line, which links Tema Seaport with Mpakadan River Port. The vehicles, manufactured by PESA, not only meet the latest European exhaust emission standards but also feature modern, eco-friendly Stage V engines. This shows a strong dedication to sustainable transportation.
The train embarked on its journey to Ghana by first taking a sea voyage. It was then transported to Hamburg, Germany using special trailers. Finally, it will be shipped to the port of Tema in Ghana.
Andrzej Bułka, the President of the Management Board of Fracht FWO, expressed his pride in the collaboration with PESA and emphasized its significant role in advancing rail infrastructure development in Africa.
Jarosław Jankowski, the Business Development Director of Fracht FWO Polska, emphasized the company’s readiness to ensure effective and safe transportation worldwide. They’re all set to make it happen.
