GHC150 Million Released To 4000 Health Facilities.
Dr. Okoe Boye, who is stepping down as the CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has shared that the government has disbursed GHC150 million to 4,000 health facilities. This funding aims to provide support and resources to enhance the healthcare services offered by these facilities.
He encouraged healthcare providers to deliver high-quality health services that align with the payment they receive from taxpayers.
Dr. Boye mentioned that certain health facilities exploit the lack of awareness among NHIS Card holders and impose unauthorized fees on them. He strongly advised the managers of health facilities under the National Health Insurance Scheme to refrain from engaging in such unlawful practices.
He said this when he commissioned three NHIA offices in Pusiga, Tempane and Bawku West Districts in the Upper East Region.
To counteract this situation, he stated that the NHIA has introduced the “Sunshine Policy” on their website, www.nhis.giv.gh. This policy enables individuals to easily verify payments made to all facilities by selecting the district and specific facility in question with a simple click.
He also mentioned that the NHIA plans to implement the Pulpit Experience (PE) initiative. This involves setting up stands with the NHIS logo at strategic locations within all facilities. The purpose is to provide clients with prompt responses to their complaints, eliminating the need to wait for responses from Accra.
According to him, this would encourage health practitioners to strictly follow professional ethics in order to provide high-quality healthcare.
