Jay Q Dedicates US Award To Castro

Renowned music producer Jay Q was among the esteemed recipients of awards at the prestigious Ghana Entertainment Awards USA, held at the Kaufman Music Center in New York City on July 6, 2024.

This prestigious event celebrates outstanding achievements within the Ghanaian and African creative arts and entertainment community in the Diaspora. Born Jeff Tennyson Quaye, Jay Q was honored for his remarkable contributions to Ghana’s vibrant creative arts and entertainment industry. During his acceptance speech, he poignantly dedicated the award to the late Castro, acknowledging the significant impact of Ga Adangbes on the industry. Reflecting on his illustrious career, which began with the rap group Buk Bak and evolved into a diverse portfolio, Jay Q highlighted his fruitful collaborations with Castro on various projects. Notably, he commemorated the tenth anniversary of Castro’s disappearance on the day of the award ceremony, July 6. While expressing gratitude for the recognition, Jay Q also conveyed a sense of melancholy regarding the unresolved mystery surrounding Castro’s whereabouts. As the founder and CEO of Q-Lex Entertainment and Jay-Qlex Recording Studio, Jay Q has played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of numerous artists and popularizing genres such as Hiplife, Highlife, and Gospel.
