A 23-year-old mobile money vendor named Kwabena Gideon has allegedly poisoned himself due to a debt of GH¢16,000. This tragic incident took place in Akrampa, in the Awutu Bereku district of the Central Region.
According to reports gathered, it seems that after losing ¢16,000 in just two weeks, the deceased, unfortunately, consumed DDT.
His boss, who was angry and believed that Gideon had wasted the money, noticed that he had turned off his phone and deleted all his social media pictures and contacts and so reported the case to the Awutu Bereku police.
Gideon’s neighbour, Faustina Asare in an interview on Adom News said the deceased look worried few hours to his death.
Residents are shocked at the sudden demise of the young and promising man whom they described as hard working and believe he poisoned himself out of fear of going to jail.
The Adontenhene of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Ncharkey Okai (VII), made a plea to the people of Ghana, urging them not to take their own lives when confronted with life’s challenges. It’s important to seek support and find healthier ways to cope with difficult situations.
The deceased body has been conveyed to the Winneba trama and specialist hospital.
He left behind a wife and a 1- year old son.
