A driver has been arrested for running over a police officer on duty at Akwanserem police barrier in the Adansi Asokwa district of the Ashanti region.
The suspect, Adams Fuseini Barro, was actually driving a Mitsubishi Pajero with the registration number GT 7116-P. He was going from Adansi Asokwa to New Edubiase.
When the driver reached the Adansi Akwanserem police barrier, he completely ignored the police’s signal to stop and while trying to escape, he actually ran over a police officer named G/Const. Theophilus Amissah Arthur.
He also crashed into a parked Matiz taxi with the license plate AC 337-20, injuring the passengers inside.
After the incident, Constable Amissah Arthur and the other passengers were immediately rushed to the Fomena district hospital for medical attention. And the driver was actually arrested and is currently being held in custody at the Fomena district police headquarters.
