GES Settles Yaw Twimasi To Head Prempeh College

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially appointed Mr. Yaw Twimasi as the new Headmaster of Prempeh College, according to sources familiar with the development.

Twimasi’s appointment follows recommendations of a three-member committee tasked with the search for a new leader to take up the esteemed role. He will succeed Mr. Emmanuel Kwabena Yeboah, who will be leaving his post by mid-November.

The source explained that the search process began with the Old Students Association convening a three-member committee to conduct an initial search and submit their recommendations to the GES through the Regional Director of Education.

Currently serving as the head of the Kwadaso Methodist Technical Institute, Twimasi was recommended to the Regional Director of Education by this committee.

Prempeh College boasts a unique tradition with both Presbyterian and Methodist affiliations. The appointment of the Headmaster follows a rotational basis, alternating with the Chaplain of the school. When the school has a Presbyterian Headmaster, a Methodist Chaplain serves in tandem.

With the tenure of the Presbyterian Head concluding this month, the Methodist Church initiated their search process, and Yaw Twimasi emerged as one of their candidates.

It’s worth noting that a letter from the GES, signed by its Director-General, Dr. Eric Nkansah, has been forwarded to the appointee, effective immediately.

The news of Yaw Twimasi’s appointment has been warmly received by the senior leadership of the Old Boys’ Association. They commend his track record in academic leadership, commitment to high standards, and his reputation as a disciplinarian. They believe his leadership will further elevate the school’s standards.

Moreover, they express their satisfaction with the fact that the new Headmaster is an alumnus who will undoubtedly have the school’s best interests at heart. This marks a rare occasion where both the Church and the Old Students have concurred on the same candidate for the role of Headmaster.

Yaw Twimasi is set to lead a college with a promising transformation into an even brighter beacon of excellence in education within Ghana.
