Manhyia Bans Auto Rickshaws Around The Palace=Here is why.

The revered Golden Stool of the Asante Kingdom will go on display on May 12, 2024 during the culmination of the silver jubilee of the King, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Royal and the Divine Stool which is believed to have descended from the skies, will be part of the treasures of the Kingdom which will go on display on that day.

The procession with which Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will come to the Manhyia Palace where the grand durbar will take place will be a huge one. Its length would span from the Manhyia Palace to the Airport. The procession will cart some of the treasures of the Kingdom out to show the world. Among them would be the Golden Stool. It will be brought out for the public to catch a glimpse.

It is in view of this and some other reasons that the Manhyia Palace in the Ashanti Region has announced of roadblocks in Kumasi on May 12, 2024.

In a communique issued by the Manhyia Palace, the aforementioned date is slated for the celebration of the “Addaekesse”. The communique states that, all the roads leading to the Manhyia Palace will be blocked during the celebration of the “Addaekesse”.

According to the communique signed by the Manhyia Palace, the blockage will ensure easy movement on the road. Howbeit, it indicates, that cars with approved stickers will be permitted to use the road, but all auto rickshaws otherwise known as “Pragia” are not allowed on the road.
