Two persons are in the custody of the Trede police in the Ashanti Region for allegedly stealing two pigs belonging to a pastor. According to the report by Angel FM, the incident occured on Friday 1st September,2023.
According to the pastor, he discovered that two of his pigs had been stolen on sunday morning and they mounted a search for them but all to no avail but was later informed that some individuals had killed a pig in an uncompleted building.
I went to an information center in my area to make an announcement and later in the day some people came to inform me that some individuals had killed a pig and were sharing the meat. So we went with the police to the uncompleted building and we saw them sharing the meat he said.
The families of the suspects have approached the pastor for an amicable solution to the issue . He estimated that the pigs be valued at 6,000 Ghana cedis but his wife was of the view that the pigs be valued at 10,000Ghana cedis with her reasons being that, per her calculations, the pigs consume food worth 8,000Ghana cedis every two months which is no where close to what she spends on her children. So if someone decides to steal them, the person ought to be fined.She added that she will insist untill that amount would be agreed and paid.
The police on the day of arrest of the suspects were compelled to give out the meat to residents of Trede due to the unavailability of storage facility at the Trede Police station and no one knows or have an idea about the whereabout of the other pig according to Angel FM’s regional correspondent.
